So, what you call American is nonsense, because you cannot extract anything in America that was not the result of another culture. I lived in Japan for 5 years. I saw the Yakuza once at the obon festival in shizouka (just south of toukyou). The yakuza have a very strong position in Japan but its mainly in business etc.
