Hey...ehm Hayao Miyazaki is the director...not the colourist and not the key-animator. I think he can inspire the people to make something great for his movie. MIYAZAKI CAN'T DO ANYTHING WITHOUT THE OTHER GUYS! Great Movie!

Not all Ghibli's films are good, mainly those NOT directed by Miyazaki (exception: Whisper of the Heart, dir. Yoshifumi Kond? (RIP)). Miyazaki has been criticizing the abuse of virtual reality and computer-aided graphics in animation. Though possibly for experimental and marketing purpose CG was used for his last 3 movies. I agree! Miyazaki is one of the few animators who can still make watercolor works. After all I think watercolor appeals better to human eyes, especially when depicting nature.

Hey, it actually does look good! being honest, after reading it would be made with watercolours, I thoguh NOOOO!!!! Miyazaki whats the matter with you?!! you see, after the flop with Isao Takahata's My Neighbors the Yamadas, what can you expect? but he IS Hayao Miyazaki, and he can do ANYTHING!

I can't wait for the English translation to be released. The art is beautiful, and judging from what I've seen, Ponyo easily has the best animation ever put out by Studio Ghibli. (the movement is so smooth! Miyazaki has addressed my one complaint about his films: the lack of inbetween animation drawings! Yay! I just hope this isn't his last film. He's my favourite director.

ジブリアニメの映像は静止画で見るとたいてい貧弱に見えるのに、動いているところを見るといつも美しくて驚かされるのですが、ローソンのフライヤーのあのシンプルな絵しか知らなかったので、この映像を見て驚いたし、不安はなくなりましたね。とにかく絵がよく動く印象です。アニメーションの原点に帰った感じがします。 近年の宮崎作品には、大衆娯楽としての映画を制作する上での方法論を破壊してでも、自身の作家性を出そうとする彼の姿勢がうかがえますが、こういう路線は個人的にはとても好きなので、荒唐無稽な設定とキャラクターたちを持つ今作も非常に期待大です。

i agree a bit with you, we dont need commentaries :) but in japan you know it always like that! i watched tv a lot there... all time comments and seen them face on the right or left bottom screen.

Well on second thought, because those 'expert commentary' are not from NHK, this clip won't get stripped, so the annoyance pays off I guess.
