I love Mao to death, but I have to agree with you. Mao is an amazing skater, but she doesn't put any emotion into her skating, so it is kinda hard to be pulled into the performance. But on the bright side, she does get emotional later in the season, so we'll hopefully get to see what the program at full force at worlds!

I think that Mao was very nervous about all the people who went to see. I had never seen the track of the TEB and ta full and that's obviously good because Mao is the best course but I think it is going to improve as all previous tempotradas I love her skating

Beautiful beautiful and beautiful. It'll be spectacular if Mao skates this program flawlessly at worlds in LA. I want Mao win another world title next year. Good luck Mao! You can do it. Actually, ONLY you can do it.

All I have to say to the troll comments are this: "Hate isn't the opposite of love, it's apathy." Fact of the matter is that by coming here and posting comments (as negative as they can be), you contribute to the number of ppl viewing Mao's SP, and reaffirm the fact that Mao is being followed and watched intently. I wish Mao the best of luck in NHK. She has been known to start out slow, begin to peak at Nationals, and continue to stay strong for Worlds. She's proven naysayers before. :)

Obviously, she's a great technical skater and has all the skills. But, if she wants to capture a gold medal at Vancouver2010 Winter Olympics, music and choreography need improvements to match her skating style. Good Luck, Mao....

OMG! Beyond fantastic! I have no words, because she's better than ever before. Forget about the jumps, it's the start of the season, she'll get them sooner or later. But look at her fluent skating, the gorgeous spins, the spirals, the breathtaking step sequence. Lori Nichol has done a fantastic job, Mao's just awesome. Hope she'll do even better in the long!

im worried that mao's growth spurt has ruined her jumps, her consistency. she doesnt seem to rotate as fast in the air on her jumps. she is more beautiful and appears like a woman on the ice now, but now that she has grown... are her jumps....gone?

This is not a good performance for her. Mao must be so vexed at this. I think this opening of the season powered her. I know that she'll keep training hard to complete her difficult programs. And finally, she'll show the perfection. Good luck, Mao!

Thank you very much for posting this video. Her movement is so feminine and demure yet so technically strong. I love the step which is absolutely exquisite! I admire her courage to try new skills each year; new jumps, new spins, new steps etc...　no one can do like Mao! 　 真央ちゃんがんばって！

Mao's spiral positions are incredibly beautiful and gorgeous. Her line is also very exquisite. The lightness and effortlessness in her skating always dazzle me. Simply the queen.
